York Region Chambers of Commerce 6th Annual Business Excellence Awards

15 Jun 2017

Benson Kearley IFG and Bento Nouveau have been named recipients of the 6th Annual York Region Business Excellence Awards.

The announcement was made on June 13th at the Colossal Chamber Networking Event organized by the nine York Region Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade and in partnership with the Regional Municipality of York.

Together, the chambers and boards represent thousands of member businesses across York Region. Business excellence is recognized at the local level with annual awards in areas such as Small, Large, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Environmental Leadership of the Year Awards.

Participating chambers each submitted two of their 2016 Business Excellence award winners for the region-wide honour. A panel of judges consisting of five Executive MBA Graduates from the Schulich School of Business, York University then reviewed the finalists and determined this year’s winners.

York Region’s Large Business of the Year, Benson Kearley IFG, won from the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce. Founded in 1969 by Bruce Benson, Benson Kearley IFG is an independent insurance brokerage offering all lines of personal, commercial and specialty insurance as well as financial services. In 2011, the company merged with Insurers Financial Group. The acquisition fused over four decades of expertise with added access to commercial, home, auto, health and niche insurance markets.

Bento Nouveau, York Region’s Small Business of the Year, won from the Markham Board of Trade.
