York Region Covid-19 Small Business Recovery Program
If you have a brick and mortar location and your business experienced a loss in revenue, the York Region COVID-19 Small Business Recovery Support Program (BRSP) can help.
The program offers free training and mentoring opportunities to help local businesses adapt to the challenges posed by the pandemic. It also provides grants of up to $5,000 to help businesses adopt new tools, increase their online presence and implement new business strategies. The deadline to apply is Friday, September 25, 2020.

York Region, in partnership with Newmarket and Vaughan Chambers of Commerce, and with support from the York Region Business Coalition, has launched the Roadmap to Recovery series which runs from July to October. Free of charge, the sessions are delivered virtually via Zoom and feature practical strategies that participants can apply to their own businesses.

Business Assistance Concierge (BAC)
In partnership with the Newmarket Chamber, the Town has launched the Business Assistance Concierge (BAC) program to ensure local businesses have access to support and resources from all levels of government. If you own a small or medium-sized business and need assistance navigating the impacts of COVID-19 on your operation, the Business Assistance Concierge (BAC) program can help. Mentorship Access Program (MAP)
The MAP provides businesses with access to a directory of fellow business leaders for mentorship on items such as business planning, marketing, employee engagement and more. Flexible Patio Program
The Town has launched a flexible patio program which allows restaurants to create outdoor serving areas in a variety of spaces where it is safe to do such as on sidewalks and in laneways.
All businesses interested in an outdoor patio or display should contact the Town of Newmarket through the Business Assistance Concierge at newmarket.ca/bac. The Town will work directly with each business to try to accommodate their requests, while ensuring appropriate physical distancing and health and safety measure are in place:
- Patio licensing fees are waived for 2020
- The Town’s current patio guidelines and regulations are updated to include greater flexibility around hours of operation, encroachment on town lands and other considerations necessary to accommodate temporary outdoor patios
- Set up and tear down of pedestrian zones on Town property adjacent to interested businesses is being funded by the Town for the 2020 season.
