Having completed a 30 year career in policing in Toronto, retiring as a Staff Sergeant where he coordinated the Recruit Training, Steve began his own consulting company in 2001. Steve Hinder and Associates focused primarily on workplace training and staff development. In July of 2004, Steve took on the role as constituency manager for Belinda Stronach, the Member of Parliament for Newmarket-Aurora. Since Belinda’s departure from politics, he coordinates the Neighbourhood Network, a Magna for Community initiative. As well he continues to work with Belinda on a number of philanthropic endeavours including Belinda’s Place a project that will bring a homeless shelter for single women to Newmarket.  The community has always meant a lot to Steve. He has been active since moving to Aurora in 1975, serving as a member of Council in Aurora and is a former Director of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce. He remains the coordinator for the York Region Youth Justice Committee, a diversion program to support young people in conflict with the law. Steve is a member of the Southlake Hospital Foundation Board and chairs the Run for Southlake.
