5 Free/Low Cost Online Tools

19 Feb 2016

Looking for a few new online tools to help with work? Here are some of our faves:

The Smart Commute application helps you find the best way to a location when joined to the "Newmarket Chamber of Commerce Members" network.

1. Canva.com: Even at its most basic (free) level, Canva enables users to create beautiful social media graphics, presentations and more via its simple drag-and-drop feature. The site gives you plenty of free fonts, layouts and design elements, but you can also purchase additional choices at nominal costs. You can also upgrade to Canva at Work, a service that enables team collaboration, allows you to create branded templates set to your colours and fonts, and more.

2. Explore.smartcommute.ca: Need to figure out the best way to get from A to B? Check out your transportation options at explore.smartcommute.ca. Be sure to join the “Newmarket Chamber of Commerce Members” network when you register an account.

3. Getdatadriven.com: You’ve finally started doing A/B testing for your online marketing efforts but how much do you really understand those numbers? Getdatadriven.com is a free A/B significance calculator that helps you figure out if your test is statistically significant.

4. Hootsuite.com and Buffer.com: You already know the importance of social media content so we won’t go into why you need to create it. What we will tell you is that posting and tracking content (including how well people respond to it) is a whole lot easier with tools such as Hootsuite and Buffer. Both of these handy scheduling tools offer free accounts for light users. Each packs in plenty of great features so, for many people, choosing which one to go with comes down to personal preference over things like layout and ease of use.

5. Techsmith.com/jing:  Need to explain something you’re working on fast? The handy (and free!) Jing tool enables you to select a section of your computer screen and save it as a photo or video.
